Maculata wightii
This is one of my favorite plants that I own. Hands down. I just love the dots. I find it very fun and unique. I have not had this for super long, but have been happy with it’s results. She lives in my bathroom. I felt like it needed as much humidity as possible so I put it in my bathroom. She is at an East facing window that honestly, doesn’t get the best light, but enough? I feel like all I remember from research is that it liked more bright indirect light. However for me, it flourishes in that spot and is a fast growing plant. I try to rotate it it once or twice a week. I mostly do this to help it grow evenly. Does it help? Time will tell. But she grows fast, and is absolutely stunning.
East facing windows seem to be what they would like more. Being in Arizona I traded light quality for humidity. Nothing can escape the sun here. So. For summer. That will be it’s place. I rotate her once or twice a week to keep it growing evenly.
This beauty I take seriously. It wasn’t expensive, but it is the most I have spent on plants. So I try to make sure I don’t have a heavy wrist. Once I see the top of the soil is getting pretty dry I put water in 3/4 of the pot it sits in. I feel like it has fairly shallow roots so I bottom feed this one to encourage it’s root growth.
This is currently one of two plants I have with Fox Farms potting soil. It was how they were selling it from the nursery.
I will be honest and say that I have yet to try to propagate this plant. I will. But for now I have been enjoying her fully. From what I have researched, she is even easy to propagate. Cut off a stem with a node and place it in water. Be patient, extremely patient and you’ll have roots growing.
