This plant has been a pain to me. The other monsteras have been easy. However, this one… To be fair, I ordered this from Amazon and both plants that I ordered from them have not been easy plants to me. The other one being an oxalis. I think they should be easier, but based on the experience I have had with this one that is not the case. My biggest struggle with this guy has been watering. I let it dry out, and then water it. With it a piece of it dies each time I water it. I have pulled it out of the pot and did a soil mixture to allow it to dry out faster but that did not help. What I have been discovering recently is that it is responding better to bottom watering. So I have been filling up it’s little tray and letting it pull is water from there. Since I have started that it has been responding better. I started it on a shelf with an East facing window. It never really seemed to like living there. Next I moved it to a corner that received both East and West sunlight. Not direct, but an area that keeps sunny. As I continued to have issues with it’s growth/watering I decided to move it to my bathroom It has a North facing window, and more humidity. My hope is that I could focus less on the water and let it pull from the humidity. Since being in there it has been happier, and growing faster. I made the mistake of watering it from the top and lost a few more leaves after that. That is my mistake and not being patient enough to let it pull that water up from the tray. It has been growing faster, but with smaller leaves. The leaf size I believe would be mostly due to the fact that it has North light. Not the best, but in sunny Arizona I’m hoping that it will be able to draw more from there. As I type this I have decided to get another one at some point and see if I can blame the Amazon seller, or if it is just a plant that maybe does not like my house. Time will tell!

With this all said, I don’t want to go into much detail of it’s care until I dive into it more and get better results. I will say from my research and somewhat knowledge of learning from it, it likes light, but indirect light. It is one you may have to move around a few times to find it’s right place. Water- Do this carefully. This one does not like to sit in water, and does like to dry out. Adansonii almost is succulently acting with water in my experience. It will also respond better if you bottom water it. Soil- Make sure it is well draining soil. Propagation- Just like any other monstera, you can cut it and put it in water and from it’s nodes it will give you great roots to make a new plant. If I continue my not-so-fun issues I may do this to give it a fresh beginning.
